(technically)blind thoughts on OUAT (season 1 episodes 1-5)
So I've decided to watch Once Upon A Time in the year of our lord 2023 (+ earlier but I forgot when I started exactly) cause from what I've heard it's my jam.
Note: I have heard/seen spoilers, but I've forgotten most of it so I think this counts as a mostly blind watch-through. (further note of: general spoilers for OUAT + small HS quadrant talk)
First of all: Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin is SLIMY (which is the point so good job writers). I hate him & I hope he gets his karma :).
On to our second villain: Regina Mills AKA the evil queen. I love her bitchyness.
I watched episodes 1+2 way before the rest so I wasn't sure if she knew(TM), but rereading the episode 3 synopsis I remembered she likely did (according to her reaction to Mr. Gold), so, for now, I'm very interested in her character :3<
I mean, she got Mr. Gold to get Henry, which I'm curious what that actually entailed and why she did that.
Emma Swan: I like her a lot.
She acts so far like an actual person would & I like that she has Henry's interest at heart while still, you know, disbelieving him. I feel like she has good general chemistry with every other actor so it's nice to watch her.
Also, the way Emma & Regina have been acting to each other...
Spades, spades in their eyes & pitch in their hearts.
Like so far they seem to *despise* each other, yet what got me to fully say this out loud was episode 5, where they trust each other to do the right thing despite their grievances. You could argue that isn't kismesis behavior if you're also a filthy homestucker, but I think there should be some trust in the other. Plus the caliginous quadrant is about making each other better so that episode gave me the HS shipper feels.
In regards to Snow White/Mary & John Doe: I find it an interesting storyline in both the fairytale world & our world. I'm curious about how this thief & prince are gonna get together (especially with the prince's fiance) cause so far I like their chemistry in the fairytale world (not so much the irl world one, but still interesting from a story perspective).
I've got less to say about the other characters, but I am invested for now & when I get the time + motivation again I will be watching it more.
Now if only I could consume the entire series in one go... same with MERLIN... and TMNT 2012 & rise... and I think you got the point by now.
