Watched Season 1 Episodes 1-8 of RWBY

So, despite the negative things I've heard from reviews, I wanted to watch RWBY, mainly cause it sounds like the batshit insanity I would enjoy I mean I did enjoy HOMESTUCK, no matter how infuriating that mess is. So why not give it a shot? To see if I would like, flaws & all.

So besides the animation, I think that it's pretty good so far.

I think that at least for now, the characters are quite charming & enjoy watching when & hearing them talk. my favs so far gotta be Ruby, Yang & Nora.

I heard that the fact that Ruby made her own weapon & that it's quite lethal one never really comes up again. Which is a shame cause I would've loved an inventor protag in a shonen that can also kick ass. But otherwise, I like how idealistic Ruby is & how willing she is to prove it after giving the chance. I heard that her introduction wasn't that great, but I think it's fine. Ruby to my knowledge is meant to be a childish character so her having headphones in a store that happened to be robbed is fine as an introduction (at least I think that for now).

Not sure how I should feel about Jaune & Pyrrha not gonna lie, Pyrrha just feels kinda empty & Jaune feels like an audience surrogate, which... if you were gonna do that, why not make it Ruby? (okay, it wouldn't make sense with her character, but then, just, don't have an audience surrogate).

Knowing Blake is a Faunus, I don't like the fact she also has human ears, I just don't.

Also the combat is just cool :3c. I am excited to see more for now.

The headphones seems like a direct reference to the same thing happening in Cowboy Bebop (or maybe Trigun)--at least, that's what I assumed it was when I saw it.

I should pick RWBY up again. I think sashagee and I left off somewhere in season 4.

Aww. I thought it was charming. It gave the show a "2012 PS Vita RPG" kind of feel for me.

I heard that it's a reference from Cowboy Bebop from a Hbomberguy video (he was very critical of the show). If I remember correctly he argued that it's a hollow reference because they don't transfer the intent of the original scene. I disagree, like does it matter if the correct information for this show is still told?

I think it's charming too! I'd have a hard time calling it great, but it was mostly just fun watching so it's at least good-ish in my opinion. This may change once I start season 2, which I'm excited about! Though that might take a bit depending on how my brain decides to feel like (it's very Pokémon focused right now).
