anxious_songbird: AI Turo bowing holding a masterball in front of him (AI Turo)
Part 1 Part 2

Hop is waiting for us at the stadium. He tells us he’s nervous, actually excited he swears and goes in. We see a smug as shit kid our age in pink walking away & Hop already thinks he’s a piece of work. I do 29 for my number for leap year (though I might change it to 366 for my fanfic), and Hop goes already for the Budew Drop Inn (paid for by Chairman Rose). We see a punk looking girl telling us we look gobsmacked & from a small town, which she is also. We talk to pink-smug boy & he’s endorsed by chairman Rose, and considers himself the most elite (in a classist way).

We leave the stadium & some guy guides us to the Inn… which is next door to the stadium (the league assumes we’re all as bad with directions as Leon). We talk to a guy next to the Inn & apparently Rose owns most of the companies (monopoly! yay…). Getting into the Inn, Sonia is there and tells us she’s furthering her research into the darkest day & asks us if we wanna hear the legend, giving us the option of short & long version. I make Gloria ask for all the details.

The story is still short as hell, just tells us there was a Darkest Day caused by a giant pokémon covering the land in clouds, with a strong hero stopping him with a sword & shield. We get the option to either ask or tell Sonia that/if she’ll be alright. I make Gloria say she’ll be alright.

After climbing the short stairs, we see the team of this gen blocking the clerk, they’re dressed in pink & black punk outfits similar to the girl earlier. Team Yell then challenges us for a battle. We battle 2 grunts before Hope comes in and we do a proper double battle. Team Yell talks about the swanky aura of the hotel ruining their vibe til the girl from earlier shows up and all the grunt back away. We find out the girl is called Marnie and Team Yell are fans of her’s and she tells them to go home. She apologizes for her fans and Hop tells her he’s already impressed she got fans. Everyone else thanks us for getting the hooligans away.

Next morning Hop greets us before getting ahead of us. When we exit the building a guy asks us if we want to be guided to the stadium, I make Gloria say yes cause why not? We enter the stadium entrance and we see banners for the event. The clerk gives us our uniform and we then go to a cutscene. It shows Chairman Rose and some lady on the stage-ground of the stadium. He gives a speech to the roaring crowd, introduces the gym leaders (2 depending on what version you get, with sword it’s Gordie & Bea), then shows our character on the stage. After we’re back in the entrance, then we actually meet Rose for ourselves with Leon, he tells us one of his companies made the Dynamax Bands, tells us it’s gonna be an exciting event and leaves.

We leave ourselves and some Marco employee (Marcos being Rose’s main company, I think) gives us the ability to use flying taxis (which use Corvidnights). I’m going to give the benefit of the doubt, and say that Rose gave us a pass to not have to use money for it (instead of the idea that nobody can use it without Rose’s permission).

Between the Inn and the next Pokémon Center there’s a Silk Scarf, which I then remember that I’ve got Mystic Water & equip it to Dew. Then Hop challenges us for a battle. We win (cause protagonist), and gives us one of his league cards. Reading the card we mostly get information we already know + the fact that his Wooloo helps him with chores around the house.

We go to route 3 where we immediately run into a Galarian Zizagoon on purpose. We catch it, call it Crash & add it to our party. Then I remembered that the bulbapedia appendix told me that starting the Isle of Armor now is props for the best so We take the train to Wedgehurst. Arriving there, we see the extra rival for this DLC (Klara, we would’ve gotten Avery in Shield). Some employee asks us if we can catch the Galarian slowpoke who’s currently blocking the train (who is also apparently from Isle of Armor). We catch it & the employee thanks us, while afterwards Klara tells us to hang out with her if we’re also going to the Isle.

We then talk to the same employee to start the DLC (Crown Tundra too, but apparently it’s too high level for us right now). We then take the train and a flying taxi to the Isle. We immediately get asked by some random scientist to collect Pokémon on the Isle.

We then see a random dude who wants to go to the Dojo on the Isle, but is too scared of Klara. I make Gloria say Klara’s got the wrong person after she assumes we’re the newbie, but Klara insists.

“What’s going on? Am I being mocked… by a Kid?!” Klara, are you going to give me a reason to trust that rando’s gut instinct? Also she asks us to battle outside.

The outside is mostly similar to the rural areas in the game, but more compact. And battling Klara only proves that she’s a two-faced bitch, but she’ll probably be fun to keep beating. She gives us a style card and tells us to see sites and not go to the Dojo because it’s too much or something. I do look around cause why not. Some Alolan Diglett was blocking the bridge, but we don’t have to battle it as it’s already owned, the owner thanks us for finding it & asks us to find 150 more.

We get to the Dojo, which looks like what I imagine a Dojo to look like but more tan coloured. Klara is outside of it lying about us, the lady she’s talking to then sees us and asks if we’re the new student. I try again to make Gloria say that we’re the wrong person, but Klara says we must’ve changed our minds, amazing. The lady introduces herself as Honey, the lady of the house, tells us that our name isn’t the one she was told before, but tells us to get inside anyway. Klara threatens us into silence and we get a view of a Pokémon that Gloria can’t see.

We get inside, everyone greets us, and some lil kid tells us we’re not in the database. Honey introduces the kid as her only son Hyde (!!! I adore this, I love this so much). Hyde then gives us an EXP Charm, which increases the EXP a Pokémon can get. He tells us to not fuck with it (fair) and goes away. Honey then tells us a) her lil boy is always busy with his hands & b) her hubby is the master of the Dojo… also we see he’s an old man named Mustard.

He welcomes us and challenges us to a battle. Which is surprisingly hard (or mostly, his Shinx is). He welcomes us to the Dojo, despite the fact that we came here despite a misunderstanding (yes he says this). He then gives us our Dojo uniform, and tells the rest of the group that the Dojo is full, which is a surprise to everyone. Klara says she didn’t get a uniform, Mustard is about to give it to her when a bunch of Galarian Slowpoke steal it & run away. Apparently battling the Slowpoke is the first trail.
