I finally watched the entirety of season 1 so let's go!
[general spoilers for RWBY + discussions of in-universe bigotry]
Okay I'm technically satisfied with the bullying subplot, but honestly I kinda don't care. I'm currently don't care about Jaune. At least happy that Pyrrha has some plan I guess?
So
2 episodes over 10 minutes! Good cause I am really thinking the current length is a detriment to these episodes. Cause we don't have a full grasp of the characters yet & they keep introducing new characters (but I like Penny & Sun so for now I'm letting it slide).
The biggest thing is the anti-Faunus plot.
Like we get revealed that Blake is a Faunus because Weiss keeps being bigoted. I think Weiss' bigotry was revealed fine, like people don't wanna be the bad guy IRL so they tie it to some ¨danger¨ they pose; in this cause ¨the White-Fang being a pro-Faunus terrorist group¨. Weiss explained why she doesn't like the Faunus & like girl, Blake pointed out Shnee's ¨contrevericial labor forces¨ (something you never denied), implying your family is either underpaying Faunus workers or even something shadier (something Blake should've pointed out in the argument). Considering Faunus in some places don't get served; I don't have the most sympathy for you. I don't know why she turns around in her opinion but I hope it doesn't just go away cause it takes a while before those beliefs genuinely vanish, if at all. Especially if these are systemic issues (which they're implied to be).
I find it odd that Blake explains the Faunus rights problems, to Sun, who just before pointed out that every Faunus should know about the White Fang. Like I think this conversation would've been better done with either Yang or Ruby (or team JNPR if you didn't want to do her team) cause they would've been more ignorant on Faunus issues & we could've gotten narrated flashbacks to things Blake experienced which caused her to both join & leave the White Fang. (Another reason basically I think the short episodes are biting the show in the ass).
TL;DR I find Blake & Weiss' reunion unsatisfying.
