I heard some shit went down in the manga, but my friend convinced me a while back to actually read the manga & I wanna pick up the manga again (I'm currently at the Gold, Silver & Crystal chapters). So I'll place my thoughts so far here (note, I've already been spoiled about a bunch of stuff cause I can't help myself ;_; also it's been a while since I've actually read it) [spoilers obviously]
(another note: I'm calling rival-Oak Green & dex-Girl Blue, I just like it better that way)
So I heard that the manga was more brutal than the anime or games, at least in gore & I did not expect it so soon in the manga. Also I was surprised & amused that like, half the gym leaders are evil, though I'm unsure how to feel about the fact that they're seemingly just, allowed to be gym leaders again after being a part of Team Rocket. Like no checkups to see if they changed their morality/values/priorities like Blaine did????
Also did not expect the elite 4 do just try to commit omnicide on humanity. Like jesus fuck. I'm not complaining though, it's not like I actually live in the manga-verse ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Like I love that Lance & Giovanni are the other two children of the Viridian Forest ☆*:.｡.o(≧▽≦)o.｡.:*☆ hell yeah! I'm here for ¨special doesn't make you good¨!!!
My fav characters so far are Red & Blue. Not sure how to explain it but they are my babies (♡μ_μ) I wish for them to have happiness & joy in their lives. I'm not shipping them now with anyone, though I'll be on the lookout for cute friendship stuff.
Green & Yellow are fine though; I don't particularly feel strongly towards them but I'm glad they're there.
Also these guys have surprisingly childish names for their Pokémons. IDK what I expected, but something more I guess?
I will admit, the way I'm reading makes me confused on how old these kids are supposed to be. Though according to this (https://forums.serebii.net/threads/pokemon-special-dex-holder-age-differences.611447/) Red, Green & Blue are 13 with Yellow being 11 in the Yellow chapters. Though now I'm just questioning how old these guys are in the SWSH arc, cause apparently Bulbapedia has no clue what arcs they happen in LMAO.
