So, I’ve personally missed the “make gijinkas & make shit up” phase of FNAF fandom. But since cringe-culture should die I will make up for lost time & just have fun :3

I’m doing a bingo to further this, so I’ll go with the prompt “flipside” from my card.

In FNAF World, to my understanding, the Flipside is just a way of traveling where you can get stuck in the 4rth layer (unless you drown yourself). But this au isn’t going to be FNAF world & the sophant-ness of the bots should come from somewhere semi-magical seeing as the first 2 get created in the 70s. I’ve already decided that how Henry & William figure this out is basically visions from god, but should it even be a human god?

So here’s me throwing spaghetti to the wall & seeing what sticks;

I've been thinking a bit about stories like "Alice in Wonderland" & "Yume Nikki", stories that aren't stories.

To my understanding; both of these media were made without a plot in mind. The experiance you were supposed to get from them was nonesense. And both sucseed in this; "Alice in Wonderland" is in a way better of for being a "it's all a dream" story, cause otherwise it would've only been whimsy & frustration. "Yume Nikki" has a diffrent tone from "Alice", but still ends up going the same, only the unclearity of it's a dream or not helps the tone.

But

people still try to get logical stories from them.

From grimdark theories to fluffy fanfic; people try to grab the looks and/or symbolism that exists in these media and make a story with plot out of it.

I just, am fasinated with how much people like to tell stories. How much people love making refrences or allusions to things they enjoy. And it makes me wonder if when the 2 intersect, with a story without plot;

At what point is the original story lost in the new covering?

So since I'm planning on writing short stories based on HomeStuck trolls, I've decided it's a good idea to have notes on the trolls for those who aren't familiar with the media. These are the biology notes, feel free to ask further questions.

[For a more objective source about the canon biology of trolls, check out The MSPA Wiki page on it]

[Note: partially these are headcanons, so not all info here to canon to HS. Also mentions of reproduction]

Here's my old DeviantArt post about my Basil Headcanon

Here's the decription with some typos fixed:
I'm aro-spec; I get to make the aro headcannons!!!

short answer: IDK man, I just think it's neat!

long answer: I thought it be great to have a aro headcannon where the aro character cared a lot for his friends (not that loveless aros are bad! they're great!). The more I thought about it the more it felt like a non-loveless-aro story. Basil is seemingly (at least emotionally) abandoned by his parents & mainly taken care of by his grandmother, and it's implied that he has trouble making friends. After Mari's death he is basically abandoned by all his friends (including the one he did a awfull thing for). While OMORI doesn't deal with amatonormativity, it is based on the IRL world, does likely having amatonormativity. Amatonormativity doesn't place high value on friendships, and by extension, the hurt of friendship break ups. Basil seemingly had to deal with the loss of all his friends to grief all while likely dealing with the trauma of not having his parents, thus worsing his already existing attachment issues. While he is not my favorite character, I do think he is intressting and, in my opinion, he´s made more intressting as an aro person.

even shorter answer: aro feels go brrr

In your own space, share a favourite piece of original canon (a show, a specific TV episode, a storyline, a book or series, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much. . Post your answer to today’s challenge in your own space and leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

So, I’m going to be talking about 2 things, cause I have 2 prompt-table(s) coms for them. Because I adore them that much.

The two things are: the quadrant romance system from HOMESTUCK & the sedoretu marriage system from Planet O from some works by Ursula le Guin. The main reason I adore them: interesting romance possibilities. I’ll try to explain both the systems & why I love them;

In our society™, romance is a Big Deal. We have holidays & expected anniversaries based on milestones or just the relationships themselves. We have a legal institution based on the idea of making another person be intertwined with you (which is currently seen as romantic). We can, by media or the people around us, have very specific ideas of what these romances should be. Of course these can be not great at times; amatonormativity is a thing in our society and generally is against the norm to either be romantically alone semi-permanently or be with multiple people at the same time consensually.

The systems do little for the former, but do something funny with the latter. These systems, in their respective canons, are the norm for the people they’re from.

Sedoretu )
Quadrants )

Both systems show a diffrent way of looking at romance, asking us to view, if only a little while, relationships trough a new lense. Of course; not all important relationships can or should be romantic, but sometimes romance can be bogged down by the expectations of how it should be in our societies. Romance is a very messy thing, and these systems acknowlegde how messy they can be. And that why I adore/love them.

(pssh, if you're a creative intressted and/or curious about these, or know somebody who might, maybe check out [community profile] 40sedoretu and/or [community profile] 100quadrantedships. It's primarily about prompt-filling, but meta + other things related is welcome :3)

[Note: I haven't played the ScarVio DLC yet. Meaning my thoughts might change once I play that]

So, I personlly don't have the strongest feelings on canon!Geeta from Pokémon ScarVio. I moreso like the character because of spite (mostly because of 2 particulary anti!Geeta fics) because... she isn't that awful

because she's barely a character.

Like; she doesn't do much nor does she have the strongest energy outside of mild-to-strongish arrogance. Which paired with her seeminly bad team (don't ask me how, I'm not super good at team-building, I actually struggled a little against her, I could not explain why her team is bad if you put a gun to my head) means that people are not the happiest about her.

The other might be because of Larry.

Larry mentions that she'll cut his pay if he keeps on chitchatting, which doesn't help the additude people have with Geeta (and that's excluding the fact that Tulip & Grusha also don't seem to be fond of her). But after you battle him at his gym for the tournament, he says that using flying types (which he says Geeta ordered him to do) actually seem to be helping him a little (also that somebody strictly told him to cut down on overtime, but I can understand that this might've been anyone else close to him).

Now; i have actually only finished the main story, with me getting some quotes stuff from Bulbapedia. But to me so far Geets just seems, kinda nosy? Which they might expand in the DLC, at least I hope so cause that could help her become more of a character.

So... I my very subjective opinion; Geeta is fine, not awful, not good, just fine.

So I was scrolling & clicking through Pintrest, cause, IDK pretty drawings & pictures & such. And I saw a image that roughly said according to my piss poor memory that only glanced at it:

"Character A & Character B are (either equally good characters or love intrests), you guys are just invested in hating A & loving B"

Now; I'm not going to say which fandom this was from, cause I don't want to argue how I view these characters. But B was a more popular character in my expiercence than A. It is something notable that A was a girl and B a boy (because in my expierence; fandom can just be like that). But in my expierence on AO3 (mostly looking up B x character C stuff ngl), A isn't really hated if you ignore the 5 yandere fics (note that this fandom is a game, with a fem & masc player-character. With the yandere fics being seemingly exculsive to the masc character. BTW the fem player-character is a lot more popular). But overall; A seems to be a liked character.

I don't want to say too much on if A is underrated, cause I don't really interact with the fandom anymore (or any), but I will say that that she does need more attention from me specifically.

I want to preface this with that while I don't like Porrim; she's objectively not the worst character in HOMESTUCK or even of the dancestors (honours goes to (canon) Gamzee, Eridan & Cronus).

But like; I really feel like talking about this & I don't trust Tumblr not to attack me & my friend who agrees with me is currently ghosting me (which BTW, I don't think it's a bad thing, people have their reasons). So here's me rambling about a character who's not that awfull but I kinda hate anyway:

anxious_songbird: a bust up drawing of a smug looking young man in fancy clothing and messy shoulder length hair (smug Mr. Hyde)
This might be rich coming from an semi-ironic Jekyll & Hyde musical fan & unironic ¨The Glass Scientists¨ fan, but I'll die on this hill.

So for those who haven't watched the OSP video on Jekyll & Hyde (+ didn't read or understand the original book): the two were the same person, NOT a split personality. The OSP video's comment section kept comparing Hyde to Jekyll's shitposting account and/or an addiction allegory and I think that's accurate.

Now, maybe it's just me, but ¨dude who uses a magical disguise to free himself in a bad way only for it to bite him in the ass badly¨ is more interesting than ¨good dude VS evil 2nd personality¨. + It wouldn't unnecessarily feed into the idea that people with Dissociative Identity Disorder have an evil personality that will do bad things. Not that it can't happen, but to my knowledge it's an overplayed & harmful trope.

I'd think if the split-personality idea that stuck to the Jekyll&Hyde concept wasn't a thing; it'd be a very popular villain idea. I mean a man who uses strange science to transform into a new look to do bad things? That's villain shit!

Even if you wanna make Jekyll/Hyde a good guy or just morally grey, it's possible to twist it into something angsty. Like ¨this man felt so trapped in his life that he felt that he needed to be somebody else¨ and/or simply just make the bad things he wants to do not actually awful. You could focus on the self-destructive part of the story & the tragedy of it.

There's even 3 options for something modernized already there:
- evil/morally-grey magical girl/guardian AU
- straight up the alt-account thing
- & sketchy Vtuber

I just kind of find it sad that the actual twist of the book was lost in translation. But that's just what kinda happens to old stories.

Okay, so, this disorganized nightmare disguised as a poorly written essay will assume this:
- Sunny's parents KNEW about the Truth(TM)
- & Sunny's mother is trying to be a good mom, simply struggling to do so

if you're not a fan of either of these assumptions... this isn't for you

anxious_songbird: an image of Aubrey in the background pointing a bat at Kel in the front who is blurred (Aubrey tagged Kel)
For OMORI content I mostly go on AO3, and a thing I've noticed is that very few fics even acknowledge that Aubrey is, in the canon of the game, christian.

To me: It's one thing to not go deep into that, It's another to imply that she's not religious (which I've seen in a couple of fics).

Now I'm not christian myself, I grew up with such an upbringing but I've been basically atheist since my early teenage years so I don't usually count myself as such (especially cause I have as of now little clue what the general teachings are). But I am interested in others' spiritual believes and how it affects them & I am a little disappointed how little people seem to care how her religion might have affected/informed Aubrey's decisions/thought-prosses.

Now it doesn't come up too much in-game I will admit, but from what we hear it has affected Aubrey a lot. Besides bullying Basil because of a misunderstanding she coped with Mari's death by going to church for the past 4 years; in my opinion, she wouldn't have done that if she didn't genuinely belief to some degree in christianity. She goes to church after getting attacked with a knife, so to me that strengthens this idea that the church is important to Aubrey.

Of course, we see in-game that her relationship with the people she shares that religion with isn't the most positive: Besides her preacher who she calls names (for no reason given in canon to my knowledge), the other church-goers are very against her being in the church for being a delinquent (no one but the preacher seemingly noticing she might be troubled). So I can see why others would make it that Aubrey had mixed or even negative feelings about it after the fight in the church. But just because Aubrey isn't well-liked in her church wouldn't stop her from believing in Christ. She wouldn't necessarily stop believing just because others are douchbags, she might just do more private study afterward or something similar.

I'm not saying she's super-religious or whatever, she likely isn't, I just kinda wished more fics would acknowledge Aubrey's spiritual beliefs when/if they came up.
